Oak Buffet Table
Buffet tables, also known as sideboards, are a great addition to any home. These furniture pieces have been in existence for ages and are available in a wide variety of styles and designs. Similar furniture pieces are buffet cabinets and buffet hutches but a buffet table has the advantage of taking up less space while serving the same function.
Apart from serving as great pieces for holding food for your buffets and dinner parties, buffet tables also provide ample storage space for your small items such as silverware, plates, cups and other crockery, eliminating unnecessary clutter. An additional benefit is that you can convert your buffet table to a decorative piece when not used for culinary purposes. This can serve the purpose of displaying your framed photos, plaques and other memorabilia.
Several factors should be considered before making a decision on the type of buffet table to acquire. These include: available space in your home, purpose for the table, style and decorative features of your home, your budget and your taste. However, whatever your decision, be sure to get the best available within your constraints as this is usually a one-time investment.
Several types are available and these include:
• large/small server buffet tables with drawers,
• ebony/oak buffet tables with shelves,
• kitchen buffet tables with hutch.
Numerous other combinations are available and you should definitely check out several furniture stores, comparing styles, make, designs, and prices (don’t just go for cheap buffet tables though!), before purchasing any. You can even be a little bit daring and go for a mirrored one, or, express your colour preference (black or white buffet table).
After purchasing your sideboard, the next consideration is where and how to set it up. The natural inclination is to set up your buffet table flush against the wall; this should be avoided. Depending on the available space, it should be set up in a place where guests can approach it from both sides. Apart from easing up movement, it also serves as an effective ice breaker, allowing interaction amongst your guests when you are hosting parties or buffets. However, if more space is desired, you can always create this by moving your sideboard against the wall.
You need to make sure that you have enough party plates on your beautiful buffet table so that even the most demanding guest of yours will be able to find something of his taste.
It is not easy to make the perfect buffet table setting but I strongly believe that if you follow the simple steps I outlined above, you will be set to host whatever parties or buffet you choose—at home, in a hotel or an office.
